LA landslide closes rush-hour street
LOS ANGELES (AP) - March 6, 2008 The slide closed busy Sepulveda Boulsevard during rush hour.
The hillside collapse near the University of California, Los
Angeles, knocked down a power pole. It also sent a backyard and its
retaining wall onto the street at about 7 a.m. Thursday.
The hillside was still oozing two hours later.
Dozens of firefighters, building officials and others were at
the scene. No evacuations have been made.
A fire officials says there was water in the area that may have
soaked the hillside and led to the slide but it was unclear what
caused it.
