Officers report they first started chasing the suspect in Center City near 4th and Callowhill after a traffic stop. The driver sped away when police discovered he had walke away from a work release program at a correctional facility in Allentown.
Police chased for a short time, but later stopped.
Then, about 5 miles away, the suspect's car was spotted after it had crashed into a street sweeper truck on the 3200 block of H Street.
The suspect is being checked out at the hospital. He will face charges for narcotics and fleeing police.
