Couple to try and raffle house off

MAPLEVILLE, Md. (AP) - March 12, 2008

The Maryland couple put the four-bedroom house on the market for $425,000 more than a year and a half ago, but didn't have any takers.

Tomorrow night, a winner will drawn in the house raffle to benefit the San Mar Children's Home for abused girls.

The charity agreed to pay the couple $390,000 for the home, the appraised value.

But there's a catch.

The charity said it would have to sell at least 5,000 tickets, at $100 each, to make the raffle worthwhile.

Now, officials of the children's home say they're reached the minimum.

Tomorrow's raffle could raise as much as $250,000 for charity.
