Parties over in Malibu

MALIBU, Calif. (AP) - March 13, 2008

Neighbors have been complaining about party-goers who make a mess of their yards, clog their quiet streets and play loud music until dawn.

The Malibu City Council has passed a new law to crack down on the use of rented mansions for promotional events.

Councilman Andy Stern, who sponsored the new ordinance, says the 24-7 parties are "horrible."

The council will consider final approval later this month.

If passed, the party not-so-hearty law would go into effect next month, just in time for beach party season.
