Dozens injured in trolley crash

PHILADELPHIA - March 13, 2008 It happened around 10:30 Thursday morning. The Route 10 trolley was coming through the intersection of 36th and Filbert Streets. A car, meanwhile, was apparently making a u-turn on 36th Street and came in front of the trolley. The trolley driver did not have a chance to slow down and the trolley slammed into the car.

There were 48 passengers on the trolley, with 24 complaining of minor neck and back injuries. All were taken to various hospitals.

The driver of the car was also taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Before noon, the scene was cleared of the trolley and all rescue personnel.
