Officials: Delaware is much wetter

Delaware - March 13, 2008 - Officials put the watch in place five months ago because of concerns about weather patterns and reduced winter rainfall.

Delaware Geological Survey research associate Stefanie Baxter says southern Delaware isn't doing as well as northern Delaware, but water supplies are better than expected at this point.

Changing the state's drought status requires the governor's action.

Pennsylvania has withdrawn its drought watch and Delaware farmers say they're seeing better conditions. The National Weather Service also says precipitation this summer is expected to be normal.
