Clinton, Obama clear air over trash-talk

WASHINGTON, D.C. - March 14, 2008 - The discussion happened yesterday on the Senate floor. The two candidates could be seen having a private, three- or four-minute chat.

Clinton spokesman Phil Singer says "they approached one another and spoke about how supporters for both campaigns have said things they reject." Singer says they agreed that the contrasts in their records, qualifications and on the issues should drive the campaign.

An Obama adviser offered a similar account, but stressed that it was Obama who approached Clinton on the subject. The adviser says they committed to making sure that their supporters don't get overheated in the future.
