1 US solider killed in Baghdad attack
BAGHDAD (AP) - March 21, 2008 At least 3,993 members of the U.S. military have died since the
war started five years ago.
A statement says the soldier died of wounds sustained from
indirect fire on Friday. The military uses the term to describe a
rocket or mortar attack.
The statement didn't provide more details about the location,
and the area south of the capital has a volatile mix of Sunni and
Shiite extremists. Violence has declined in the area, but attacks
continue against U.S. and Iraqi forces.
