EAST MOUNT AIRY - March 26, 2008 The collapse happened around 3:45 when an overhang came crashing down onto the sidewalk.

Licence and Inspections officials were soon on the scene.

Medics took a 14-year-old girl to Einstein Medical Center with injuries to her legs. Officials say her injuries are not life threatening.

The building houses a daycare on the first floor. Action News was told the girl is a relative of the owner of the daycare.

About a dozen children were inside the daycare. Officials say the daycare was evacuated with none of the children being injured.

"All the kids were safely escorted out the backdoor. The kids were never in any danger," Lt. Mike Kopecki of the Philadelphia Police said.

L and I inspectors said the building has not had any construction within the last five years.

According to officials, the owner of the building had her certificate of occupancy and licenses to run the daycare center.
