Driver crashes into store

Delaware State Police are investigating an accident in which an most of an SUV ended up inside a Cumberland Farms store this afternoon. It happened at about 3:45 this afternoon at 1707 Wilmington Road (Route 9), in New Castle. The driver pulled into a parking space at the Cumberland Farms store and then continued forward, until the vehicle came to rest inside the store.

There were reportedly three people inside the store at the time. One of the customers was transported from the scene by ambulance.

The driver of the vehicle was reported to be unconscious when rescue personnel arrived but regained consciousness as he was being evaluated by paramedics.

Delaware State Police arrested the driver at the scene on charges of Driving Under the Influence.
