Something new in many Utah libraries

But the Internet cams aren't just for visual Web surfing.

They're helping military families keep in touch with their loved ones deployed in Iraq and other areas.

Many families don't have the proper tech gear or a high-speed Internet connection needed for a video chat.

Kraig Thorne, of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, has started a program to deliver Webcams to every library in Utah County.

He tells the Deseret Morning News that keeping in touch with soldiers overseas has come a long way since a letter a month in World War II.
