Tropicana security workers put off union vote

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - April 1, 2008

The Security, Police and Fire Professionals of America had planned a vote this month on whether workers wanted to join the union. But the Michigan-based union's organizers decided to wait because the casino is for sale and currently does not have an official owner.

And the union is conducting another casino election in Las Vegas this month.

The union tried last year to organize Tropicana workers, but fell short. But the national Labor Relations Board granted them the right to hold a new election, ruling that management improperly interfered with the vote.
