NJ aims to promote religious freedoms

TRENTON, NJ. - April 8, 2008

Gov. Jon S. Corzine signed several bills in Passaic Wednesday that would promote religious freedoms.

One bill requires colleges to offer alternative testing arrangements for students unable to take Saturday exams because of religious observances.

A second expands religious civil rights protections for employees.

Another bars health facilities from requiring patients or family members to sign admission papers when doing so would violate religious beliefs.
