Racist graffiti found at school
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - April 9, 2008 The vandalism at the Thomas Mifflin School in the city's East
Falls neighborhood was discovered Wednesday morning. School
district spokesman William Thompson says the faces of the black
children on a mural depicting diversity were marked out. Also,
swastikas and other racist markings were painted on the outside
walls.
School district west region superintendent Shirl Gilbert says
security guards saw the graffiti before most children showed up for
school and covered it with paper. Gilbert says the mural was
destroyed when workers painted it over later Wednesday.
