Community uses "Legs Against Violence"

April 13, 2008 The morning began with a 5k run and walk, designed to raise money for anti-violence and mentoring programs. It was sponsored by Philadelphia Physicians for Social Responsibility and the day's event was called "Legs Against Arms".

Dozens of activities were held inside the St. Joseph's University field house, including shooting hoops with members of the hawk's basketball team.

Organizers called this a day to celebrate young people's talents and potential, which all too often are cut short by violence. These teens pledged to promote peace in their neighborhood.

The Physicians for Social Responsibility were hoping to raise $50,000 today for anti-violence programs.
