The William Penn Charter school in East Falls was closed Friday while police officers searched for a missing gun.
A woman reported the gun stolen after she brought it to the school last week in her purse. The woman reported her purse, which contained a handgun, had been taken from her car while she was inside picking up her daughter. The woman says she has the gun because she is involved in a domestic abuse case.
The search turned up nothing. But administrators canceled all weekend activities.
This morning, extra police will be on campus as a precaution. The head of the school will meet with parents.
