Neighbors say that the woman, who they said was named Tiwen, lived here with her son, 2 young granddaughters and two tenants.
Police say that one of those tenants discovered her body in the kitchen around 1:00 this afternoon.
Investigators say that she has been beaten with some sort of object and died from blunt force trauma.
People who knew Tiwen say that she was from Vietnam and moved to this neighborhood about 10 years ago. They described her as kind.
Among the items investigators collected during their search was a pair of shoes found on the sidewalk in front of the house.
Police are hoping that someone with information comes forward.
