Street closures because of the debate

PHILADELPHIA - April 15, 2008 The Philadelphia Police Department announced that the following streets would be affected:

The 100 block of North 6th Street (between Market and Chestnut Streets) will be closed starting at 10:00 Wednesday morning. The street will not reopen until 1:00 a.m. on Thursday.

The intersection of 6th and Callowhill Streets will have limited access to allow for Ben Franklin Bridge traffic only.

The right lane of the 500 block of Race Street (between 5th and 6th Streets) will be closed to vehicle traffic.

Police said additional closures in the area could take place if a safety need arises. Authorities are advising people to avoid the area of the Constitution Center by using public transportation or by choosing an alternative route.
