Man charged with jury tampering

Wilmington, De. - April 18, 2008 Police say Carl Roy made the comment on Wednesday at the New Castle County Courthouse while the juror was on lunch break. The juror reported the remark to court officials and was allowed to continue serving.

Roy was arrested and charged with jury tampering, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in prison and a fine of up to $2,300. The jury is considering the case of 18-year-old Mark Purnell, who is charged with first-degree murder in the January 2006 slaying of Tamika Giles. Purnell faces life in prison if found guilty.
