Arsons arrest shocks shore town

LITTLE EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - April 20, 2008 Now she and many other residents of their Little Egg Harbor Township neighborhood are left to wonder after Peters was arrested and charged with arson and burglary, accused of setting a string of fires.

The 43-year-old Peters was arrested at the township's police department of Friday. She posted $75,000 bail from the Ocean County jail on Saturday.

Police say Peters is responsible for four fires that severely damaged homes in the township's West Tuckerton section over 11 days.

One of the fires, Murphy said, was next door to Peters' house. She said it "doesn't make any sense to me at all."

Police are still unsure of Peters' motive.
