New pet restrictions considered at LA airport

LOS ANGELES (AP) - April 22, 2008

The Los Angeles City Council is considering an ordinance that would require pet owners to keep their animals caged as they travel through Los Angeles International Airport.

Police Chief William Bratton is concerned that bomb and drug-sniffing police dogs could be distracted by the jet-setting pets.

The council's Public Safety Committee OK'd the measure yesterday.

The proposed ordinance will be heard by another committee before being considered by the full council.
