Philadelphia car fire spreads to houses

JUNIATA PARK - April 23, 2008

Investigators say the fire looks suspicious.

The fire broke out in a parked car on Wednesday morning at about five in the 4000 block of Claridge Street.

It then jumped to another car and leapt to two houses. Residents in the houses scampered to safety, but a firefighter battling the flames was injured.

There's no word yet on the seriousness of those injuries. The blaze also knocked out power to a number of houses in the area.

PECO is working to restore power. So far, police have not indicated that they have any suspects in the case.
