Toy gun triggers scare on N.J. school bus

MILLVILLE, N.J. (AP) - April 24, 2008

Police Capt. Thomas Romanishin says a call from the Sheppard Bus Co. around 9 a.m. Thursday reported that a bus driver had recovered a handgun from a 6-year-old.

Police responded to the bus and found the supposed weapon was clearly a toy gun.

Millville Superintendent Shelly Schneider says school officials will meet with the first grader's parents to determine whether counseling is appropriate for the child.

Less than 24 hours earlier in North Jersey, a 10-year-old accidentally fired a semiautomatic handgun inside his elementary school while showing it off to a friend.
