France train crash with bus kills 5

PARIS (AP) - June 2, 2008 The bus was carrying 50 middle school students, five adults and a driver on a trip to the shores of Lake Geneva, according to police in the Haute-Savoie region in the French Alps.

The six dead were all children on the bus, according to the regional administration. Three of the 30 injured were in serious condition.

The accident occurred near the town of Allinges, close to the Swiss border.

Interior Minister Michele Alliot-Marie and the head of the SNCF national railway, were heading to the site.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy paid tribute to the victims during a speech on education in the presidential palace Monday.
