Police say, at around 6:05 p.m., Nicholas J. Davis, 18, walked into the store and asked the clerk for cigarettes. Police say he then took out a crowbar from underneath his clothing and demanded money.
The clerk opened the cash register, and police say Davis reached into the drawer and took $100.
Police say Davis then fled the store and got into the passenger seat of a Nissan with Maryland tags. The clerk was able to get the license plate number, and police discovered the car was registered to Davis' mother, Kimberlee A. Davis, 39, of Laurel.
Both mother and son were arrested Tuesday morning, and the Nissan was recovered at their home on Willow Drive.
Both Davis' were charged with Robbery 1st degree, possession of a Deadly Weapon during Commission of a Felony and Conspiracy 2nd degree.
They were each sent to the Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of a $52,000 cash only bail.
