Soul wins battle of unbeatens

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - April 28, 2008 The Philadelphia Soul moved to 9-0 Monday night by routing the Dallas Desperados 57-28 in Arena Football. Philadelphia did it with a balanced offensive and defensive effort, using its league-leading attack to manhandle the AFL's stingiest defense.

Eddie Moten had three of Philadelphia's four interceptions and Larry Brackins caught three TD passes.

Philadelphia (9-0) took a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. Indeed, when Dallas (7-1) got its first touchdown, the extra point attempt was blocked and run back 50 yards for a 2-point conversion, making it 23-6.

Matt D'Orazio completed 20 of 29 passes for 194 yards and six touchdowns. In addition to Brackins' three, he found Darius Watts, Phil Bogle and Chris Jackson for one score each. D'Orazio also ran for two TDs.

Dallas quarterback Clint Dolezel struggled all night, going 17-for-36 for 206 yards and two scores, both to Will Pettis. Dolezel ran for two touchdowns.

The Desperados had won 15 consecutive regular-season games and fell one shy of the AFL record for most consecutive wins. The Soul have won 11 in a row during the regular season, dating back to 2007, and equaled the teams highest single-season win total with the victory.

With both teams in the same division, the Soul took a big step toward winning the East. The Soul play at Dallas on June 7.
