Relocated bear makes trouble again

SOMERSET, Pa. (AP) - April 29, 2008

In December, the bear was first relocated from Fayette County to Laurel Ridge State Park in Somerset after he was caught raiding beehives and feasting on horse feed.

But when he arose from his winter snooze, the bear apparently decided Fayette County was the place to be. A month ago he trekked the 50 or so miles back home.

The hungry bear began emptying bird feeders and rummaging through garbage, prompting residents to complain to the Pennsylvania State Game Commission.

On Monday, commission officials who had trapped the bear with the help of a glazed ham, again released him in the state park, where they insist he will remain.
