Arrest in deadly hit-and-run

READING, Pa. - April 29, 2008

Investigators say Kenny Gutierrez was driving the 1998 Lincoln Navigator along 11th and Spruce Streets on Monday night, when it hit and killed Angela Bryson.

"She really was an angel. She did everything for us. She was the most unselfish woman I've ever known," said the victim's daughter Megan Bryson.

VIDEO: Family members say the victim went to get something she left in her car.

She wasn't 40 feet from her front door, when investigators say the SUV, moving at a high rate of speed simply ran her over, and just kept going.

"He could have stopped down there but he took off and left her in the street, a four foot eight inch woman left in the street bloody and crushed," said Bryson's distraught husband Robert.

He says they were getting ready to celebrate their 40th anniversary later this year.

"She was the rock in this family. She did everything here. She kept us together," Bryson added.

And that's why the members of the Bryson family say they lost more than a wife and mother.

"She was my best friend. I did everything with her. My heart's gone," said Megan Bryson.

Gutierrez has been arraigned on a number of charges.
