Mrs. Fixit: Picture Frames

May 04, 2008

If you need a place on your dresser to put perfume bottles, or a spot to catch jewelry, choose a frame that doesn't have a stand arm in the back so you can lay if flat on your dresser.

Cut a piece of fabric to the size of your frame opening, put it in place just like a picture, and then simply lay the tray on your dresser.

Another idea and at a fraction of the cost that you can find them at the store, cover a piece of cork with fabric, criss-cross some ribbon and secure to the back.

Then, insert the memo board into an antique frame.

Or paint a piece of chalkboard pane and secure it to a frame for an instant, decorative look.

You can also paint a piece of board to match your room. Screw some hooks into it and insert it into a frame for a decorative place to hang your keys or necklaces.

Attach a pretty old picture frame to the front of a shallow box and you have an instant shadow box to display your treasures. Then just finish your box to match your frame.

There's no end to the uses of old picture frames.

I'm Mrs. Fixit and it's just that simple.
