Bomb squads study artillery shell at Del. home

LEIPSIC, Del. (AP) - May 2, 2008 Bomb squads from the Delaware State Police and Dover Air Force Base were responded to the home Thursday after getting a call from the man's mother-in-law.

Joan Parker says she was worried about the shell, especially after her great-grandchildren started touching it.

Police examined the shell and X-rayed its contents to determine if it is a live round.

Parker says her son-in-law, Alan Pleasonton, found the shell last winter while fishing for conch in the Delaware Bay off Bowers Beach. Pleasonton was not home when she called authorities.
