Council calls for probe of cancer clusters

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - May 2, 2008 Delaware has one of the highest cancer rates in the nation, and a recent report from the Delaware Division of Public Health identified eight areas in the state where residents are diagnosed with cancer at unusually high rates. The report did not identify possible causes for the disparities.

City Councilman Charles Potter sponsored the nonbinding resolution. He says the state needs to spend the money necessary to find the causes of cancer in Delaware, even if it requires going in debt.
