Housing slump pushes parking up in Dewey Beach

DEWEY BEACH, De. - May 7, 2008 The increase is expected to generate an additional $280,000 for the town.

Town Manager Gordon Elliott says the town needs the extra revenue because income from transfer taxes has dropped.

A sesonal pass has increased to $150, up from $100. Parking for a week, seven consecutive days, will now cost $50, increased from $30. Parking for one day, Monday through Thursday, will cost $10, up from $5. Weekend parking for one day, Friday through Sunday, and any major holiday stayed the same at $15 per day. Two and three day rates will also increased.
