Sunoco Welcome America will be 'Legend'ary

May 6, 2008 A hot spring day provided the perfect backdrop to announce the rundown for the Sunoco Welcome America Celebration.

John Legend, the R&B singer who graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1999, will perform live on the Art Museum steps that Friday night.

Legend has won nine Grammies with his smooth, jazzy, soul-filled songs.

Mayor Nutter predicts three million people will attend many of the nine days worth of events.

Philadelphia natives Boys II Men will perform during a special concert on Saturday, July 5th at Penn's Landing.

You can also expect the usual family fun, with outdoor movies, children events, ice cream, and who knows what else.

One thing that has yet to be announced, though, is the opening act for Legend.
