Dewey Beach parking heading higher

Parking rates are headed higher in Dewey Beach.

Permit fees to park in the resort town will rise between 30 and 50 percent this summer. The increase is expected to generate an additional $280,000 for the town.

The new rates take effect May 15.

Town Manager Gordon Elliott says the town needs the extra revenue because income from transfer taxes has dropped.
