Cheney delivered a 10-minute speech Thursday to about 100 workers at a Northeast Philadelphia facility that prints the economic stimulus checks. He said everyone is paying more these days, whether it's for gas or to put food on the table, so the checks especially come in handy now.
The facility, the Philadelphia Regional Financial Center, is one of four nationwide that are issuing the 88 million paper checks between now and July. The center is part of the Treasury Department's Financial Management Service. It has approximately 170 employees.
