There's no indication what caused the partial collapse of a two-story brick building on the Wilmington riverfront.Firefighters say a large section of the roof and a significant portion of the front of the building gave way about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Workers were inside but got out safely.

Bricks, debris and rubble were strewn across the site near the corner of West and Justison Streets. Officials weren't sure Wednesday how long the cleanup would take.

Wilmington's Commissioner of Licenses and Inspections, Jeff Starkey, says the building was scheduled for demolition in August 2005. He says the permit has expired and the owner of the building could face fines. Starkey says the rest of the building will be demolished.
