High winds topple trees and power lines in tri-state

RUNNEMEDE, N.J. - May 12, 2008 It was a dangerous scene in Upper Dublin, Montgomery County. A tree fell down on electric wires, sparking a transformer fire near the intersection of Joel and Susquehanna Roads.

Residents in Roslyn awoke to a large tree that crashed right through the roof of their house on Rose Road.

Traffic headaches were felt around the tri state area as travelers were diverted from their normal commutes due to dozens of downed trees. Work crews have been out all morning clearing the roadways, like this intersection in Whitpain Township.

That scene repeated itself in West Chester, Havertown, on Prescott Street and on Highland Avenue.

In North Philadelphia, a falling tree injured a man who was taken to Hahnemann Hospital for treatment.
