Police said late Wednesday that a man jailed in New York City may be the suspect wanted in a carjacking, murder and rape. That suspect is identified as 26-year-old Omar Sharif Cash of Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood. Authorities in New York City are awaiting positive identification from fingerprints to be sure that the man in their custody is Cash.

He is the man who allegedly carjacked a couple in Philadelphia, shot and killed the man in Bensalem, and drove to a motel in Lawrenceville, New Jersey where police say he raped the woman repeatedly.

Police say 32-year-old Mexican immigrant Edgar Rosas-Gutierrez and his girlfriend were kidnapped around 3:30 Sunday morning, as they left Jalapeno Joes on Castor Avenue.

Lawmen described Cash as 6-2, 200 pounds, black hair and brown eyes.

Edgar Gutierrez's family members are asking anyone who knows Cash to call police and help capture him.

Police say he may still be driving Gutierrez's car: a 1998 Buick Regal with Pennyslvania license tag EYK 9463 with molding missing from the passenger read side door.

"Everything at this point is leading us to believe that this was a random attack," Harran said.

Call Bensalem Police at 215-633-3719 with any information.
