David Dilliard pleaded guilty in January to third-degree murder in the 2007 death of Samara Dilliard.
Dilliard told police he smothered the infant with a pillow and punched her in the back of the head because he couldn't get her to stop crying.
The baby's mother, Stacy Matson, says she was at work at a restaurant when Dilliard called and told her Samara wasn't breathing.
Dilliard said he put a pillow over the baby and fell asleep on it after he smoked marijuana. Lehigh County Judge Kelly Banach told Dilliard that drugs and child-care do not mix.
