The star of the show is always the crab cakes, which sell out. But the crowd was also happily chowing down on shrimp, steamers, burgers and raw clams. Bob Heller and his pal shucked as many as 3000 for this event.
The event chairman, John Hand, says all the money goes to to scholarships, veterans and handicapped/special needs children.
It starts every Memorial Day weekend off with a kick and what better way then to be down in Brigantine having a seafood clambake. What more could you ask for? Well, how about the kiddy rides at Castaway Cove on the Boardwalk in Ocean City? That's where lots of families headed once the sun went down.
"We spent the day at the beach and had some Mack & Manco and then came up here to ride some rides," said Paul Smith of Drexel Hill.
Stacy Watterson from Coatesville, Pa. says, "My son is on the Ferris wheel right now. We always have fun in Ocean City. We love coming down here it's such a great family town."
For a lot of folks this weekend down the shore is a tradition. With one day left in the weekend, people are going to try and make the most of it.
