Spam sales on the rise

Now, it's not just a Monty Python skit.

Many consumers squeezed by rising gas and food prices are putting the canned meat in their shopping carts.

Spam's maker -- Minnesota-based Hormel -- reports its profits are up 14 percent in the most recent quarter.

The canned lunch meat fed American GI's during World War II and the company is getting many new Spam customers.

San Francisco-area mom Kimberly Quan says her three kids favor Spam with their macaroni and cheese.
