All lanes of Route 42 reopen

DEPTFORD, N.J. - May 29, 2008

A tractor trailer traveling northbound on the 42 freeway was overloaded with steel beams.

Part of the cargo hit the Browning Road overpass and struck a water main around 8:05 a.m. Police had to shut down three lanes of the highway.

Some of the steel fell out of the truck and hit about 5 vehicles that were traveling near tractor trailer. The view from Chopper 6 showed several cars pulled over along the highway, with their drivers inspecting the outside.

The New Jersey State Police are investigating. Cleanup crews say they have no idea how long it will take to make repairs and remove the debris.
