Damaged overpass closes part of Garden State Parkway
LACEY TOWNSHIP, N.J. - June 4, 2008 Turnpike Authority spokesman Joseph Orlando says the accident
happened as the tractor-trailer was trying to exit the southbound
side of the roadway around 2 p.m.
There were no reports of injuries.
Orlando says engineers are working to determine the extent of
damage to the overpass, which carries Lacey Road over the Parkway,
and what it's going to take to repair it.
Orlando says southbound traffic is being diverted off the
Parkway at exit 77. He did not know when the closed section of the
road would be reopened. Northbound traffic was not seriously
affected, he said.
