Missing swimmer's body found

BENSALEM, Pa. - June 7, 2008 This afternoon, a 20-year-old from Trevose, Pa., and a friend decided to beat the heat by swimming in the Neshaminy Creek.

They were jumping in the water from a rope around 4:00 p.m. The friend made it out, but the 20-year-old did not.

The current was swift.

It feeds into the Delaware River three or four miles away after making its way through Bensalem and Bristol. Rescuers presumed the man drowned.

Rescue crews found the man's body around 6:45 p.m.

He was hung up in huge boulders along a series of waterfalls.

Firefighters from a number of fire departments were out searching for him for more than two hours.

They were on small boats, canoes, and rubber rafts.

The coast guard sent a helicopter from Atlantic City.

His identity has not yet been released.
