Fire at Wanamaker Building

PHILADELPHIA - June 8, 2008

A fire broke out on the 12th floor in a mechanical room for the buildings elevator.

Firefighters were called to the historic building shortly before 7:00 a.m. after smoke started pouring from the room.

Firefighters utilized Ansil, a chemical used to fight electrical fires to extinguish the blaze and are working to remove smoke on the floor.

No injuries have been reported and firefighters got the upper hand in approximately 10 minutes.
