The former president of the Atlantic City Board of Education has been sentenced to five years in prison. Cornell Davis, age 34, was convicted of bribery earlier this year, part of an ongoing corruption probe.

Authorities said Davis used the influence of his office in the awarding of a vocational training contract in 2005.

The father of two wiped away tears several times during today's sentencing hearing in Mays Landing.

Davis must serve at least a year behind bars before becoming eligible for parole.
