Teen stabbed during robbery

PHILADELPHIA - June 12, 2008 But instead, he says, "I'm angry because I don't know if I'm going to be able to walk down the aisle to my graduation, or if I'm going to have to go in a wheelchair.

An 8the grader at Martin Luther Elementary in Plymouth Meeting, Scott was visiting the Mastery Charter School at 9th and Oregon in South Philadelphia Tuesday. It's where he'll be attending 9th grade next year.

It was about 3 o'clock when he hopped on the "G" route Septa bus carrying almost $200 in his pocket. The money was to pay for his graduation cap and gown.

His elders had implored him not to show that large amount of cash in public, except, "When I got on the "G", I reached in my pocket to get my $2 to get on the bus and the rest of the money fell."

What Scott didn't know at the time was that an evil person saw him drop all the money. The predator was determined to get it one way or another.

"And I didn't even see the man at first until he was getting off the bus," said Scott.

Scott started getting suspicious when the man followed him off the "G" bus and onto the #36 trolley. Scott had a plan. When he got off at 70th and Elmwood, he would run for cover in the Chinese food take-out on the block. He didn't think the man would follow him there. But he did, and worse.

"He started hitting me in my face and he stabbed me in my stomach," Scott recalled. "I have a severed artery right in my stomach and the rest is from the operation they had to do on me. I had to get stitches in my eye."

The 14 year old almost died, if not for the skilled work of surgeons at Children's Hospital.

The would be killer is still out there, much to the dismay of the child's mother.

Tosha Annan said, "he started punching my son, stabbed him, and never even gave him a chance to give him the money."

A surveillance camera at the Chinese take-out captured the attack on video, and police are trying to identify the attacker.

He's described as a black male in his 20s, with a beard, carrying a yellow and red bag or towel.

Police are asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to call 9-1-1.
