Del. man charged in crash that killed Md. teen
SMYRNA, Del. (AP) - June 13, 2008 Andrew Rankin was released from the hospital Friday and
arraigned on charges of vehicular homicide and driving under the
influence in the crash that killed 17-year-old Brian Wilson of
Havre de Grace, Md. Rankin was also charged with two counts of
vehicular assault.
Rankin is being held at the Delaware Correctional Center near
Smyrna in default of $11,000 secured bond. The judge also ordered
he not drive if released on bail.
The accident happened Saturday after a hood flew off a station
wagon on Route 1. Police say Rankin rear-ended a car that had
slowed down because the hood landed on the road. Wilson was a
passenger in the car that was struck.
