About 2,800 members of the New Jersey National Guard will gather at Fort Dix for a farewell ceremony before being deployed to Iraq.
In coming days, troops from the guard's 50th Infantry Brigade Combat Team will go to Fort Bliss in Texas for training. By the fall, they'll be in Iraq.
It's the largest deployment in the 6,200-soldier New Jersey National Guard's history.
Gov. Jon S. Corzine is expected at Saturday's ceremony. They'll be a military aircraft flyover, and the soldiers will get to picnic with their families afterward.
