Teacher's trial starts today

WARMINSTER, Pa. (AP) - June 18, 2008

Jury selection is underway.

Authorities allege that 46-year-old /*Susan Romanyszyn*/ left notes and a device that looked like a bomb because she was angry about her teaching assignment. She wanted to teach fifth grade at Longstreth Elementary School in Warminster, but was assigned to the fourth grade.

Romanyszyn faces 17 counts of making terroristic threats, a felony, when her trial begins Wednesday.

She has been fired by the Centennial School District, where she had worked for 10 years.

While teaching math at Klinger Middle School in 2005, she was one of two Pennsylvania finalists for a Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics.
